Why you SHOULD grow your business with Facebook Ads
“Don’t touch Facebook Ads until you’re more established, you’re not ready!”
If you’re selling a course or creating an online service business, like coaching, I’m willing to bet you’ve heard that before.
They say its too expensive, too hard, and you’re just not ready until you already have an audience and client base.
The problem is, organic reach on Facebook and Instagram is all but a thing of the past. You need to be bringing in new leads and getting more eyeballs, and Ad Campaigns is how you do it.
The people who say this are often well-intentioned. Maybe they’ve been burned by spending money on ads with a one-size-fits-all strategy that didn’t work for them.
But the truth is, a lot of times they are looking out for their own interests, not yours. They don’t know how to teach ads, or it’s just not what they’ve chosen to sell, so of course they’re going to say that the thing you need to spend money on is their thing.
I know this, because I’ve been there. Starting out as an entrepreneur, I took the “get clients organically at first” advice… even though I was trying to master paid ads and get paid ads clients!
A little about me… I’ve been in social media marketing full-time for about 6 years (and had amateur blogging days before that). For the past 3 years, I’ve specialized in Facebook Ads.
I was working in a marketing agency and started trying to improve my Facebook ads skills, and I started being interested in courses about starting your own agency, so I bought some of those courses and they all said that I should get my first clients organically. I paid for a coach and he said the same thing.
In hindsight, If I had just taken some of that money that I spent on courses and coaching and instead invested in my own audience and getting my own leads and email subscribers, I would have been in a much better place.
Oh well, live and learn! What I ended up doing was finding full time work running ads for local businesses, and also freelance work running ads for and learning from a true expert in the Lead Gen world. I got to see inside of some big successful coaching businesses, manage ad spends of thousands of dollars a day, and generate hundreds of thousands of dollars a month in course sales.
All of that has given me the confidence to say - do what they do, not what they say.
There are no guarantees. You can loose money with ads… but, you can lose money that you spent on courses and coaching too. I’m not saying don’t ever spend money on those things, they can be awesome! I’m saying that if you have the budget to buy those things, take some of that budget and invest it in yourself with ads.
If you have the right strategy for your business, and the right messaging that you put in front of the right people, you CAN grow your online information or service business. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s too scary!
