Grow Your Facebook Group With a Page Likes Campaign
So you have a Facebook Group around a specific topic and you’re looking to get more group members!
One thing that annoys me is when you try to look for advice about how to grow something on social media, like a Facebook Group, and all you get is advice about how to make a cool group, give value, and build a community.
Of course posting good content and engaging with your members is important, but the purpose of this article I’m going to assume that you know that already.
The truth is, just because you build it doesn’t mean they’ll come. You can do a great job, and still your group numbers won’t budge.
Why To Avoid This Common Beginners’ Mistake
One mistake that I see people making is starting off their group by adding in friends and family members. I totally understand why - no one will join an empty group so you figure it’s better than nothing, and who will support you and like your content if not your friends, right?
The problem is, as much as your friends and family want to support you, if the topic of your group just isn’t their thing, they’re not going be active in the group. This creates a negative feedback loop, telling Facebook that your group isn’t very engaging, and it can actually hurt your growth.
You need to get your group in front of people who are passionate about the topic.
How To Grow Your Facebook Group With A Facebook Page Likes Campaign:
The fastest, easiest, and most cost-effective way to get your numbers up at the beginning is through a page likes campaign.
Step 1: Make sure your group is linked to your page. Go into the “groups” tab and either create a new page, or link an existing one that you own.
Step 2: Create a Facebook ad campaign with the Page Likes Objective, and target a couple of interests within your niche.
Make sure your ad has a simple, clear message that talks about what people will learn or accomplish in your GROUP, regardless of if that is an exact fit to what you post on your page.
For example, if you have a page about Dogs where you post pictures of dogs, but the group is about learning dog training techniques, don’t say “For Dog Lovers who want more pictures of dogs in their feed!” Instead say, “Dog Lovers! Learn to train your dog quickly and painlessly!”
Step 3: Once the page likes start coming in, go back to the groups tab from your page, and click “invite.” This will open up a list of your page likes, and you can invite them to your group! In my experience, you can expect around 50% to accept.
